As the yearly giving back tradition continues, 8Layer and Maralabs, together with its growing family, Mulat Media and RedLark Manila had its gift-giving activity at Bahay Aruga last December 20. Bahay Aruga is a halfway House for pediatric Cancer patients of PGH and other hospitals. Located along San Marcelino, Ermita, Manila, it was a regular house with a parking lot which is converted to be a temporary shelter equipped with some beds and other necessities for pediatric cancer patients from various provinces undergoing treatment at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) or other hospitals in Manila.
The programme started with the children and their guardian assembled at the parking lot ready to participate in the excitement brought by the organizers. Games and song and dance numbers from the hosts and organizers set the mood of the Children to the party mode. The children then joined the hosts in dancing and enjoyed the moment of merriment. Gifts were then distributed to the Children which made them smile and forget about what they are undergoing. After that, they were treated to some food, fruits, and refreshments while waiting for the highlight of the event- the appearance of Santa Claus.
At around 11:30, Santa and his team appeared to the delight and amazement of these Children. All eyes were fixated on Santa as he and his team walked inside. Children had so much fun taking photos with Santa and being touched and hugged by him.
We ended the program thanking these children and the NGO team behind Bahay Aruga for such a humbling experience to be able to see what these children and mingle with them. In today’s fast-paced and superficial society, we need these kinds of activities to touch our hearts.
Till our next gift-giving!
